Snow Storm of 1959
Posted by the Souris Railway Museum, shared by Souris Valley Flyer
"Pic of the Day"
The weekend of Oct. 8 & 9, 1959 a terrible snowstorm hit our area. It rained in Winnipeg & east of Morden. The snow stayed on crops and were combined the next spring. This pic is from the corner of Tanguay's Hardware store looking west on Crescent Ave. W. I have inserted that these were all taken by Maurice Jacobson, our local Photographer. I don't think we are slated to get this much in the next 3 or 4 days..

Souris Glenwood Chamber of Commerce
Awesome work by students in Grade 5/6 Filewich at Souris School, who planned, prepared, and created “Steven Spielberg” scarecrows for the town-wide Scarecrow Days event (Sept. 22-24) in Souris; as they do every Fall season. This year they created a Jurassic Park display with a lot of hidden gems within the display!
It is great to see our youth working together to participate in community events both at the school and at their own homes. This year’s group went above and beyond our expectations and they should be very proud of the critical thinking, teamwork, and community building skills they demonstrated, as well as their Jurassi-tastic finished products!

Upcoming Concert
Only 3 more sleeps! This group is Nashville bound for sure! See them in Souris at the Avalon Oct 17. Get your tickets today at Souris Pharmasave or Sharon 483-2001. $30 for adults, includes popcorn and a beverage. See you at this all ages, family friendly event.

From Faith Community Baptist Church in Souris, MB
Oct 3rd, 2023 – Faith Community Baptist Church is pleased to welcome Tim Challen as its new pastor, as of Sep 1st. Tim is an Ordained Minister in the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada, and most recently served for just over 4 years as the pastor of Virden Baptist Church in Virden, MB. Tim is 41 years old, and grew up in Vancouver, BC. He earned his Master of Divinity from Regent College, in Vancouver, in 2019. In addition to working as a pastor, Tim is a Captain in the Army Reserve, serving as the Chaplain of 26th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, in Brandon, MB.
Tim is looking forward to getting involved in the community and making connections with people on their terms. He is passionate about helping people to understand and work through the most difficult and/or controversial elements of the Christian faith. And he is especially passionate about ministering to people who have difficulty expressing their emotions, and who don’t feel that they can be vulnerable with others or with God, as that was a significant impediment to his own spiritual development. He credits the power of the Holy Spirit, and the example of some good Christian role models, in helping him to overcome that issue in his own life.
There will be an Induction Service for Pastor Tim on Sunday Oct 15th at 4 PM. The location will be Faith Community Baptist Church, 11 Landsdowne St N. This service will mark the formal introduction of Tim as the church’s pastor. There will be a time of food and fellowship afterwards. All are welcome.
Faith Community Baptist Church gathers for worship each Sunday at 11 AM, and welcomes all.
