Local Fundraiser Event
A fundraiser is coming to scarecrow days! Their go fund me has been linked in the last few flyers. The Laluk family (Tony, Shauna, and Isabelle) have lived in Souris for 8 years. Tony curls with the Souris Curling Club and you would have seen Isabelle in pictures during Peacock Days Peacock Pride Competition! Tony Laluk was recently diagnosed with Esophagus and Stomach cancer and has already had to leave work. He will be starting treatment and have to undergo surgery soon. This family could use our community support! Please make sure to come check out this fundraiser on October 2nd, lots of fun for the whole family and prizes to be won!

Heritage Days Concert
Huge thanks to everyone who supported our Heritage Days concert yesterday. We are grateful for our performers: the D-Town Steppers, Caitlin Baker, Mitch Makoons and Gabriel Pambrun, and special guest and elder, Ed Genaille who not only shared legends but brought bannock. Many thanks to Manitoba Arts Council, Souris District Arts Council, and Westoba Credit Union, Souris Branch for their sponsorship. Thank you to Al Logan for taking care of the bookings, Echo Finlay for making the bannock and doing all the preparation, Darren Janz for doing the sound, Dean Sherritt and WCGTV for videotaping, and Heather Williams for everything else! Special thanks to Tristan and Elly for collecting donations. Finally, thank you to Souris Parks & Recreation for the use of the campsites, fire pits, wood, washrooms, and stage area. We had a perfect day and those who attended were treated to a fantastic afternoon of music and entertainment.

Mystery Planter
This picture was posted in the Souris Talks Facebook group along with this description by Lauren VanBeek
"I've been meaning to say this for a while and kept on forgetting. Our flowers at our church died during the summer because of the extreme heat. To our shock, we came one day to find someone had planted new flowers for us! I don't know who you are but our Pastor and all of us at Souris Gospel Chapel thank you for being a blessing and doing something so kind without ever even seeking gratitude for it, thank you, thank you, thank you!!"

Heritage Days
Heritage Days fun began Friday! Look for the yellow signs throughout Souris and pick up your map at Lagasse's Studio of Fine Art or LT’s Corner Store. There are 32 stops on the route! Thank you to all the businesses and public buildings for displaying signs. A huge thank you to our sponsor, Leslie Chudley Century 21 for the 6 beautiful coroplast signs. Thanks also to Bill Sanderson for photographs, Heather Williams for photos and historical information, and to Echo Finlay for her computer skills for the maps and links to the Souris-Glenwood website.
Heritage Days update. After checking Public Health orders, only those with proof of double vaccination can enter non essential places. Therefore, St.Paul’s and the Avalon will NOT be open for tours this weekend. Please check here for updates on whether the museums will be open this weekend. If they are, proof of vaccination, masking, and social distancing will be in effect. We apologize for any inconvenience this presents. Thanks for your understanding.

Santas WorkShop
Here is a message from Danielle Fortin who posted on Souris Talks this week!
"Good Afternoon Folks!
I am overjoyed to have been given the responsibility of coordinating our local “Santa’s Workshop”. As a mother, and an educator I have always appreciated and encouraged the event because I believe it fosters not only compassion, and generosity but independence and community spirit as well. For those of you that are unfamiliar to the evening, Souris and Glenwood Chamber of Commerce sponsors a “user-friendly” night of shopping for our youngest consumers! It is an opportunity for our children to have the freedom, and privacy to Christmas shop for their loved ones, be it Mom, Dad, Grandparents, Siblings, or even their pets!
To our local businesses, this post is for you. If you have been involved in Santa’s Workshop previously, I will be in contact with you soon. For any new businesses in town, or businesses who have not been involved in the past but think this is something you would like to participate in, please do not hesitate to contact me for more information. This is a great way to meet your future shoppers!
As the holiday season approaches, there will be more information posted about the evening. We hope to plan a fun-filled, festive night for family and friends!
However, for now, please save the date and enjoy the falling leaves, the autumn breeze and all that pumpkin spice!"

Yard Sale Option
Are you wanting to have a yard sale during the town wide yards sales on Scarecrow weekend but don’t have the place to have it? St. Paul’s United Church is hosting a yard sale on Saturday Oct 2 from 9-1. Tables will be available to rent for $10.00 each and will include 2 chairs. Weather permitting they will be set up outside, but in the case of inclement weather they will be in the auditorium. If you wish to rent a table please call Debbie at the office at 204-483-2676. Covid protocol will be in effect and we ask that you clean up and take all your leftovers home as the BBB will not be accepting anything that day.
