New Picnic Shelter at the Fairgrounds
Souris & Glenwood Agricultural Society is excited to have the new picnic shelter facility ready for use at the fairground. It will be used for public and private events. It is a great addition to the fairground that has a riding arena, ball diamonds, kitchen, washrooms, showers and campsites.
The Votes are In!
This past week a poll was posted in Souris Talks and shared on Facebook so that you all could have a say in what movie would play at the Drive-in Movie during Peacock Days on August 13th! Shrek got the most votes, I cant wait to see you all then!
Free Kids Events
We are excited to announce that Roof Crüe along with the Souris Valley Flyer and Brandon Bouncy Castles & Inflatables will be hosting some fun activities this year during Peacock Days!
Friday, August 13- Free Face Painting at the fairgrounds from 6pm-9pm
Saturday, August 14 - Free kids zone in the bowl from 10am-4pm which will include 2 bounce houses with slides, an inflatable zoo, popcorn, and face painting!
Covid protocols will be in place including sanitizing before entering the castles, limited kids aloud at 1 time in the castles, and social distancing in lines.
Activities are subject to change due to public health orders.

Falcon Enterprises
Here is some history about our local Business Falcon Enterprises.
Falcon Enterprises is an oilfield service rig company that was started by Detlef back in 1988. Detlef bought their first rig in 1988 from Ritchie Brothers Auction. It was an old 1968 rig! They were able to sell it years later, it is now all the way down in Arkansas. Jan, still being a teenager graduating in 1994, went to school for three years at Brandon & Winnipeg but during the summer would always come back to help his Dad on the rigs. With the oil crash in 1999 Jan just ran a tank truck for a bit, then it fired back up and he has been working on the rigs ever since. In 2000 he got his first rig, then got a second one from Alberta and in 2007 was when they built Rig 5, their first rig built from scratch. In 2010 Jan was managing the company and his dad Detlef came to help here and there. Falcon Enterprises moved from Detlef and Ursula’s house into the old vet clinic in 2012, adding an addition for themselves the following year. Jan now owns 6 rigs as well as many other pieces of equipment that are available for rental to do odd jobs. These include a telehandler, light tower, ground heater, air seeder and a skid steer with multiple attachments for jobs like stump grinding and post hole digging. Falcon Enterprises is located behind the Pembina co-op lumber yard, you will see their beautiful pump jack out front as well as the sign. Buskers are welcome to perform on the Crescent on Saturday, August 14th during the Sidewalk Sales and Peacock Patios, the Crescent will be closed to traffic! Please contact us to book!
