Souris Christmas Spirit
Souris is definitely in the Christmas spirit, so many wonderful things happened this past week! The Community Supper was a great success and was a very pleasant atmosphere. I have also seen many posts of locals helping others plow their driveway and helping each other out of the ditch. Co-op also created a gift bundle for a family in need. What a beautiful community we have!

What a great turnout on such a stormy day! In case you missed this great event here is some information on the presentations that happened.
Darrel Jackson handed out money to many organizations, businesses, and projects from the SGF Grant, and then Dave Martin from the Souris Agricultural Society presented 5 donations to 5 different businesses/organizations from the proceeds of the 2022 Peacock Days and Fair.
Here is part of the speech he said:
The Ag Society and our board members want to thank everyone that made the 2022 Peacock Days and Fair a huge success; this includes a special thanks to the competitors, spectators, sponsors, event organizers, and volunteers for their tremendous support of the 2022 Peacock Days & Fair.
Jessie Goodwill shared with me that this was the largest group we had ever collaborated with for the summer fair in the past six years.
- 16 + businesses, local organizations and individual event organizers were involved.
We genuinely appreciate everyone's cooperation and patience with this new journey of working together as a big group.
The 2022 Peacock Days and Fair had fantastic attendance; our donation gate received very generous donation support from all!
This amazing generosity allows the Souris-Glenwood Agricultural Society to give back to each organization that helped us! Tonight we are excited to announce a 400$ donation to each organization that helped us.
The organizations are as follows:
Avalon Theatre, Souris BPO Elks, Souris Cooperative Daycare, Souris District Arts Council, and Souris Minor Hockey.

This has been an adventure I never dreamed of, but it has filled my heart to help so many people, just as much as it was a big part of my healing journey after my fathers sudden passing. I am so grateful to everyone who has supported me on this journey.

Thank you so much to everyone who attended the Fireworks last night and donated to the Souris Volunteer Fire Department (they graciously put on the show for us)! Also a big thankyou to Whitfield Drugs for sponsoring, this wouldn’t have been possible without them.
We were able to donate $421.75 towards the fire department’s side-by-side fund!

Give the Gift of Reading! Through our Souris chapter of the Imagination Library, your donation of only $45 gifts a library to a local child for an entire year!
Our program mails a free book per month to children under 5 in our area, addressed directly to them - how exciting for the child The selected books are age-appropriate, diverse, and are selected specifically for Canadian Imagination Libraries, like ours! A donation of $45 commits 12 books for a child (one per month) and invests in a lifetime of success.
Since we launched in March 2022, 729 books have arrived in local homes! Reading at home: improves Kindergarten readiness, improves family-wide literacy & connection, supports future successes and creates a life-long love of reading.
